Authenticity Over Filters - In Life and Career!

Everyone appreciates a nice touch-up occasionally (who doesn’t like a flattering filter?), but at what point does enhancing an image begin to distort reality?

This idea led me to consider creating a cartoon—because we all sometimes 'edit' ourselves in our professional lives too.

Although the cartoon is a playful approach to a serious subject, here are 3 essential aspects (presented without any filters) that, in my opinion, we should aim for in our careers:

1. Don’t Over-Sell Yourself.

Confidence is great. Inflated resumes? Not so much. Authenticity builds trust—the kind that

doesn’t fade under scrutiny.

2. Don’t Chase Trends Blindly.

Filters come and go—and so do trends. Focus on building timeless skills, not just keeping up with the latest buzzwords. (No one wants to be the corporate version of a 2024 TikTok dance!)

3. Don’t Lose Your Identity.

Your quirks and values make you memorable—don’t trade them in to fit someone else’s mould. After all, the best ‘brand’ you can build is you.

Final Thought: Whether in life or career, authenticity always outshines perfection—because real stories create connections.
